11th March, 2010: The liking for entertainment was his genes. Why? Because Rajan Sashi’s maternal grandfather, the vetern film actor P. Jairaj (who received Dada Saheb Phalke Puruskaar in 1982) was associated with the showbiz abode. This penetrated love for this art in Rajan. With twinkle in his eyes, Sashi entered in the industry and vanquished the flags of fame within a short span of time. That is called the luminosity and passion for the trade that he has in abundance. The Delhi boy studied in St. Columbus school in Delhi then turned to Hindu college. He stepped into the land of opportunities and dream Mumbai then.

He made it as a production boy initially. He made his journey from assisting director/producer Ravi Rai and got enthusiastically and actively involved with the famous serials like Sailaab, Thoda Hai Thode Ki Jarorat Hai. He then turned into direction with the hit shows like Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi, Hamare Tumhare, Rishtey, Kareena Kareena, Reth, Saat Phere, Millee, Virasaat, Saathi Re, Ghar Ki Laxmi Betiyaa and Maayka. He is the one who moulded the actors like Mona Jassi Singh and Rajshri Saloni Thakur and Mona “Milli” Wasu.

Year 2007 brough new success in his career when he launched his production house Director’s Kut. Within no time he made it big as a producer in the TV industry with the very first two shows Yeh Ristha Kya Kehlata Hai and Bidaai. His shows always are ranked at the top. Now Raja is all geared up to seek new faces for his ventures. Yes, he is on his way to hunt fresh faces for his forthcoming show on Star Plus. He will be meeting the new faces in Delhi, Chandigarh, Bhopal and Jaamu. Hina Khan (Akshara of Yeh ristha Kya…) was discovered in Delhi while she was studying in college and Sara Khan (Sadhna of Bidaai) was discovered in Bhopal. Karan Mehra (Naitik of Yeh Ristha) and Kinshuk Mahajan (Ranbir of Bidaai) also hail from Delhi. Angad Hasija (Alekh of bidaai) was discovered in Chandigarh and Parul Chauhan (Ragini of bidaai) was a find from Lucknow.

On hunting new talent, he says, “For every show I take fresh faces and groom them into becoming the characters of my show. I am looking out for fresh young faces to play leads for my new show on Star Plus and take the legacy of my production house Director’s Kut forward”
